THE BADGE PROJECT

Goals

The FPIC acknowledges the significance of acknowledging the learning achievements of individuals from various Indigenous communities, regardless of age. This digital badge project aligns with our mission to enhance motivation among young Indigenous learners and ignite their curiosity in the boundless opportunities offered by digital technology. The individual badge portfolios will enable learners to share their training journey and pursue further studies or confidently apply for employment in the digital manufacturing field.

Badges are added to the various FPIC programs as a motivational tool, which allows learners to see their learning path throughout their training.

Also, badges are a way to recognize the different skills developed by youth during their program. Whether more technical or transversal, both professional and personal skills will be highlighted thanks to digital badges.

Certification by Digital Badges

A digital badge represents the future of certification, enabling the creation of validated digital credentials for various types of assessments and achievements. This secure and portable digital file, in image format, encompasses more comprehensive information compared to a traditional paper certificate. It includes a detailed description of the certification content, the criteria for earning it, the date of issuance, the recipient’s identity, and various additional information options such as references, competencies, endorsements, and proof of achievement.
Being digital and online, these badges can be stored within an online skills portfolio, which includes a dedicated learner identity section within the user’s profile. This allows for efficient organization and display of badges, as well as easy sharing on the internet via websites, social media platforms like LinkedIn, emails, and more. Additionally, it is possible to generate a PDF diploma from the digital badge.
Digital badges are generated using an information system that adheres to the Open Badges standard, established by Mozilla in 2011. This standard ensures the longevity of badges, enhances their discoverability by search engines, and enables their transferability across various skills portfolio platforms, both present and future. To date, tens of millions of badges have been granted worldwide in accordance with this standard.
